How long this whole thing takes
A 10,000-photo delivery is roughly five and a half hours of looking at two seconds a photo. In practice the first pass runs faster than that, because most frames are obvious skips in well under a second. One evening for the first pass and about another hour for the refining passes is a realistic target for most couples.
The thing that actually costs months is not the looking. It is opening the folder, seeing the scroll bar, and closing it again — which is a planning problem, not a photography one. Pick a target number before you start and the task becomes finite.

- Read how many photos an album needs first and write down a target, then work through the fast culling method. Deciding the number before you open the folder is what stops the first pass from turning into a browse.
- Do I need any software to do this?
